The Executor (a novel)

Anthony Branigan’s well-ordered life is thrown into turmoil when he receives news of the death of his father, a Vietnam veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder. Twenty-five years before, the father had walked out on the family leaving the young Branigan to care for his mother. Sorting through his father’s belongings, Branigan finds a handwritten will appointing him executor and leaving everything to a family in Vietnam. To find the beneficiaries, Branigan travels to Vietnam where he traces his father’s footsteps during the war. What follows is a story of political intrigue, the search for MIAs, kidnap, and murder in which Branigan not only learns the truth about his father’s past during the Vietnam War, but becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse between forces vying for control of that war-ravaged country.
