Centenary of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Kensington

The year 2026 marks the centenary of the erection of the church of Our Lady of the Rosary (OLR), Kensington. As part of the centenary celebrations, I have written a short history of that building and the part it has played in the story of the Catholic people of Kensington over the past one hundred years. The book is not a history of the OLR parish, which was established in 1914, but of the OLR church, which was built in 1926. Yet it is not just a story about the stonework, the bricks and mortar, and the stained-glass windows that make up the building. It is mainly about the people who inspired it, who designed it, who built it, who adorned it, and who raised the money to enable it to be built and maintained.
The parish priest whose vision it was to build the OLR church was Father (later Monsignor) Edmond McAuliffe, who was in charge of OLR parish from 1918 to 1964.  The church McAuliffe built one hundred years ago with the assistance of the architects, the builders, and his generous and hardworking parishioners stands as a lasting legacy to the benefit of the Catholics of Kensington then, now and into the future.

Copies of the book are available from OLR Parish or from Amazon.
